The Country Wife was challenging because for a show performed in a black box space it had quite a few moving parts.
The set had two roll drops that had to be operated by a cast member. The ropes and hardware of the roll drop mechanism had to appear to be period.
The set also had an all seeing eye on the proscenium. The eye had shutters that had to open and close to conceal the eye. The shutters had to be operated offstage of a proscenium that had no offstage space around it.
The set also featured a practical chandelier in the center of the room which had to fly in and out to different spikes throughout the show. |
