About us
The Social Cognition and Health Research Team is led by Dr. Kym Bennett. We focus on the effects of social cognition following a chronic disease diagnosis, particularly cardiovascular disease.
Dr.
Bennett received her Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of
Nevada, Reno in 2002. Since then, she was a postdoctoral fellow at
Vanderbilt University (2002-2004), an Assistant Professor at Indiana
State University (2004-2008), and now an Associate Professor at the
University of Missouri-Kansas City. At UMKC, Dr. Bennett also
serves as the Director of the Undergraduate Psychology Program and the
Director of the Psychology Advising Office.
Our team is comprised of several graduate students pursuing doctoral and master's degrees, as well as undergraduate research assistants.
